Dog Tired

dog_tired1.jpgAn older, tired-looking dog wandered into my yard; I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home and was well taken care of. He calmly came over to me, I gave him a few pats on his head; he then followed me into my house, slowly walked down the hall, curled up in the corner and fell asleep. An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out.

The next day he was back, greeted me in my yard, walked inside and resumed his spot in the hall and again slept for about an hour. This continued off and on for several weeks.

Curious I pinned a note to his collar, ‘I would like to find out who the owner of this wonderful sweet dog is and ask if you are aware that almost every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap.’

The next day he arrived for his nap, with a different note pinned to his collar, ‘He lives in a home with 6 children, 2 under the age of 3 and he’s trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?’

Alone Again- They left me on a Chain

I wish someone could tell me,
What it is that I’ve done wrong,
Why I have to stay chained up
and left alone so long.
They seemed so glad to have me
when I came here as a pup
There were so many things we’d do
while I was growing up.
They couldn’t wait to train me
as companion and as a friend.
They told me they would never fear
being left alone again.

The children said they’d feed me,
said they’d brush me every day,
They’d play with me and walk me,
If only I could stay.
But now the family hasn’t time,
they often say I shed.
They wont allow me in the house,
not even to be fed.

The children never walk me,
they always say, “Not Now!”
I wish that I could please them,
won’t someone tell me how?
All I have is love, you see,
I wish they would explain,
Why they said they wanted me,
then left me on a chain.

Dogs live Here

lm621untitled-posters.jpg
If you don’t want to be greeted with paws and swinging tails
don’t come inside because dogs live here.
If you don’t like the feel of a cold nose or a wet tongue,
don’t come inside because dogs live here.
If you don’t want to step over many scattered toys,
don’t come inside because dogs live here.
If you think that a home ought to smell of perfume,
don’t come inside because dogs live here.
If you don’t mind all of this,
you will be instantly loved when you come inside,
because dogs live here.

If it Barks its not always a Dog

Man’s relationship to animals, has fostered some unusual bonuses. In becoming closer to certain species, and domesticating them, the animals themselves have turned the tables on their human counterparts. Take for instance, birds.

You may call them bird-brained, and for certain, they don’t have the physical features that produce speech in a human, but these feathered friends are often as fond of calling you, as you are of them.

Parrots have been kept as pets for thousands of years, specifically for this talent of mimicking human speech. The African Grey parrot was highly popular in Greek and Roman times. Macaws, which are a parrot-like bird, can also be taught some speech if you have patience, but are not as chatty as a true parrot. Cockatoos, however, are real performers, often ruffling their beautiful head crest before repeating something you might not have wanted overheard by the kids. Even the common parakeet, or budgie as it’s also known, can be taught by repetition to imitate specific things, including words and sentences. They will often pick up sounds on their own, such as a whistling kettle, or a dog barking.

Although if you want to really hear a bird bark, you need to take a trip to the Andes, in Ecuador. For it was there, in 1998, that ornithologist Robert S. Ridgely discovered a black and white duck-like bird with long legs, which startled the daylights out of them by barking like a dog. The bark is a natural sound, and not a learned imitation. The species, now named Antpitta avis canis Ridgely, is the largest bird species discovered in the last half century. There were 30 specimens in the area at the time, and it was suspected that they have remained concealed from Man, due to their remote location.

How did you choose your Dogs Name?

3982296.jpgHello all: I am really curious by how people choose names… I’ll guess I’ll be the same when it comes to Childrens names, but for now, Im always interested when I hear people shouting for their dogs in the park.. How did you choose your dogs name?
For Lily, I thought a long haired Chiuahuas looked quite sweet and nice, so I wanted a really pretty girly name..I have a neighbor who has a boxer and he looks quite tought and she calls him sweet-thing..So I wonder how silly she feels calling him sweet-thing in the park! when he looks so tough…I was taking my dogs for a walk and heard a lady calling her dog “Wellington! Come! That made me laugh… I’d love to hear your stories and the names of some of your dogs and why you chose the name. So come on tell us your story Im sure my readers would love to read about it so leave your stories here….

You can Save a Life and get a Great Companion!

d7.jpg Think about adopting an animal when you decide to add a pet to your home.. alot of people consider thier pets as their babies are part of their family I thought it would be appropiate to write this. Their are those who love and care for thie animals and spay and neuter them and see that they eat healthy dog food and have warm shelter but then their are powerful forces wo oppose us. They wish to exploit the animals. They fail to respect cratures who cannot defend themselves. We must continue to be a strong voice against them. Thats why we need more to fight against animal cruelty. We must continue to be a strong voice gainst them. Without caring individuals we would never have been able to accomplish our goals . I Have Some More Fantabulous News!

6a00e55215d62e8834011570b72577970b-500wi.jpg I love stories with happy endings and Im sure you all do to. So I had to share this story with you. I have a good friend who has a blog called Maria Michelle’s Furkids and Rescue Maria alos is a lover of animals espcially cats and dogs. Recently her kitty cat by the name of Coco was diagnosed with a form of cancer and she was not looking good. Maria thought she might loose her and really was upset about it. The cancer news was tearing her to pieces but God is good and today I went to visit her blog and I read this Post which made me very happy so I had to share it with my reader . Here is a copy opf her Post……..I have Some More Fantabulous News!!!
Coco went to her regular vet today for her mid-month chemo check-up. They basically check her blood cell count and feel the lump. Well, Guess what? The vet could hardly feel anything! Two weeks ago the lump was down by about 60% and now it was pretty much undetectable. One of the vets even had a card and toy for her birthday! Her blood work was good too. Needless to say, I don’t think I’ve ever been so overjoyed.

Thanks for all your thoughts, prayers, well wishes and especially purrs. I know they’ve helped :)

Here is a photo of her angel Coco… Be sure to leave comments if you have any…AND please be sure to go again and vote for me at http://bloginterviewer.com/animals/dogcents-ruth you can vote each day it will only take a minute and your votes help fight against animal cruelty.
