A FAITHFUL DOG

59167740407_thumbnail.png
A Faithful Dog Will Play With You
And Laugh With You -Or Cry-
He’ll Gladly Starve To Stay With You
Nor Ever Reason Why,
And When You’re Feeling Out Of Sorts
Somehow He’ll Understand
He’ll Watch You With His Shining Eyes
And Try To Lick Your Hand.
His Blind, Implicit Faith In You
Is Matched By His Great Love-
The Kind That All Of Us Should Have
In The Master, Up Above.
When Everything Is Said And Done
I Guess This Isn’t Odd
For When You Spell “Dog” Backwards
You Get The Name Of God. Author: Unknown

Puppies for Sale

d153.jpgA store owner was tacking a sign above his door that read “Puppies For Sale.”
Signs like that have a way of attracting small children,
and sure enough, a little boy appeared under the store owner’s sign.
“How much are you going to sell the puppies for?” he asked.
The store owner replied, “Anywhere from $30 to $50.”
The little boy reached in his pocket and
pulled out some change. “I have $2.37,” he said.
“Can I please look at them?”

The store owner smiled and whistled and
out of the kennel came “Lady”, who ran down
the aisle of his store followed by five teeny,
tiny balls of fur.

One puppy was lagging considerably behind.
Immediately the little boy singled out the lagging,
limping puppy and said, “What’s wrong with that little dog?”

The store owner explained that the veterinarian
had examined the little puppy and discovered it didn’t have a hip socket.
It would always limp and always be lame.

The little boy became excited. “That is the puppy
that I want to buy.”
The store owner said, “No, you don’t want to
buy that little dog. If you really want him,
I’ll just give him to you.”

The little boy got quite upset. He looked straight
into the store owner’s eyes, pointing his finger,
and said, “I don’t want you to give him to me.
That little dog is worth every bit as much as
all the other dogs and I’ll pay full price.
In fact, I’ll give you $2.37 now, and 50 cents
a month until I have him paid for.”

The store owner countered, “You really don’t want
to buy this little dog. He is never going to be able
to run, jump and play with you like the other puppies.”

To his surprise, the little boy reached down
and rolled up his pant leg to reveal a badly twisted,
crippled left leg supported by a big metal brace.
He looked up at the store owner and softly replied,
“Well, I don’t run so well myself and the little
puppy will need someone who understands!”

We ALL need someone who understands!

Dog’s Best Friend

081116_dog_food_bowl.jpgA DOG’S BEST FRIEND
O Lord, don’t let me once forget
How I love my trusty pet-
Help me learn to disregard
canine craters in my yard
Show me how to be a buddy
even when my sofa’s muddy,
Don’t allow my pooch to munch
the postal carrier for lunch,
Shield my neighbor’s cat from view,
guide my steps around the doo,
Train me not to curse and scowl,
when it’s puppy’s night to howl,
Grant I shan’t awake in fear
with a cold nose in my ear,
Give me patience without end-
And let me be A Dog’s Best Friend…………….Author Unknown

Alone Again- They left me on a Chain

I wish someone could tell me,
What it is that I’ve done wrong,
Why I have to stay chained up
and left alone so long.
They seemed so glad to have me
when I came here as a pup
There were so many things we’d do
while I was growing up.
They couldn’t wait to train me
as companion and as a friend.
They told me they would never fear
being left alone again.

The children said they’d feed me,
said they’d brush me every day,
They’d play with me and walk me,
If only I could stay.
But now the family hasn’t time,
they often say I shed.
They wont allow me in the house,
not even to be fed.

The children never walk me,
they always say, “Not Now!”
I wish that I could please them,
won’t someone tell me how?
All I have is love, you see,
I wish they would explain,
Why they said they wanted me,
then left me on a chain.

Dogs live Here

lm621untitled-posters.jpg
If you don’t want to be greeted with paws and swinging tails
don’t come inside because dogs live here.
If you don’t like the feel of a cold nose or a wet tongue,
don’t come inside because dogs live here.
If you don’t want to step over many scattered toys,
don’t come inside because dogs live here.
If you think that a home ought to smell of perfume,
don’t come inside because dogs live here.
If you don’t mind all of this,
you will be instantly loved when you come inside,
because dogs live here.

Do I have to Smile?

lucky_smiles.jpgI came across this picture while surfing the net at funny dogs.net and altho it does look like a cute picture I thought to myself ” this dog does not look like it really feels like smiling and then looking at the picture closely I realized that the teeth were not the dogs own teeth but some nickle and dime store bought Vampire teeth. This dog really has no real reason to smile he problably feels uncomfortable. Do dogs have emotions? pets and dogs: do they love, have feelings and what does that mean for humans… I read an article where it said why should we pay attention to pet’s emotional lives when scientists have always thought the very idea that any species less then human knows the chosen volition of love and free will. Man is unique in his ability to choose and to love, according to modern science.. yet several free thinking scientists have found much more to ponder in doing the unthinkable.. studying animals, without preconceptions or expectations… and coming to the conclusion that animals do indeed know how to love…. ” Marc Bekoff, professor of biology at the University of Colorado, has published more than 175 papers and 15 books related to animal emotions. Some of his books were co-authored by the famous Jane Goodall. There are some dogs that are very special they can sniff out drugs and others can sniff out cancer. Some dogs are so loyal and love their masters so much that as soon as their owners pass away they also die of broken hearts. Many dogs put their lives in danger in order to protect those they love. So Im sure those of you who do own dogs and love them know already that you do not need to read all those books about dogs and their emotions to know that dogs do have emotions and that they do love us. Take care of your animals and love them for they love us unconditonally.

T’was the Night before Christmas

mywreathbig.png T’was the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
With no thought of their poor dog filling their head.
And mamma in her ‘flannel PJ’s and I in my cap,
Knew he was cold, but didn’t care about that.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Figuring the dog had gotten free of his chain and into the trash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the luster of mid-day to objects below,
When, whom in front of my eyes should appear,
But Santa Clause - with eyes full of tears.
He unchained the dog, who laid quietly still,
Last years Christmas present, now painfully thin and also quiet ill..
More rapid than eagles he called the Dog’s name.
And the dog ran to him, despite all his pain;
“Now, DASHER! now, DANCER! now, PRANCER and VIXEN!
On, COMET! on CUPID! on, DONDER and BLITZEN!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Let’s find this Lab a home where he’ll be loved by all”
I knew in an instant there would be no gifts this year,
For Santa had made one thing quite clear,
The gift of a dog is not just for the season,
We had gotten the pup for all the wrong reasons.
In our haste to think of the kids a gift
There was one important thing that we missed.
A Dog should be family, and cared for the same
You don’t give a gift, then put it on a chain.
And I heard him exclaim as he rode out of sight,
” You weren’t giving a gift! You were giving a life!”
